According to the World Economic Forums 2022 Global Gender Gap Report, it will take 132 years to achieve total global gender equity if we continue at the current rate, which means a lot of progress is needed. Around the world, green coffee buyers and roasters are increasingly looking for ways to support the communities they buy coffee from.
One of the most prominent ways of doing so is through a meaningful contribution to education, investment in community programs, and investing in closing this gender equity gap. With the objective of driving long-term improvements and sustainability, the focus on education and community-led programs supports current and future coffee producers.
This session will focus on the experiences and perspectives of the women who work on or receive these development projects. We will hear about impact programs at the farm level and the program designers who aim to help close the gender equity gap.
