U.S. Women in Coffee Welcomes Brittany Amell to Board of Directors

ree

[Schaumburg, IL] — The U.S. Women in Coffee (USWIC) Association is proud to announce the appointment of Brittany Amell to its Board of Directors. A seasoned leader and advocate for equity in the specialty coffee sector, Ms. Amell brings more than a decade of industry experience spanning sales, marketing, and impact-driven program development.

Ms. Amell currently serves as Sales Representative at Covoya Specialty Coffee, where she also chairs the Café Delas program. Her leadership has played a pivotal role in expanding Café Delas from its origins in Brazil to multiple countries across Latin America. Through her efforts, the program has delivered meaningful reinvestment into women-led coffee production, including cash premiums, equipment, and training.

Her advocacy for women in coffee is also rooted in deep origin engagement. During her time working with the Peruvian cooperative COOPAFSI, Ms. Amell helped develop a women-grown regional blend that grew to ten containers sold within four years. She also helped raise funds to expand infrastructure through the purchase of solar dryers—efforts that continue to benefit the cooperative’s long-term sustainability.

USWIC and Covoya recently formalized a collaborative partnership [LINK TO COVOYA POST] grounded in a shared vision to elevate gender equity in the coffee industry. Ms. Amell was instrumental in shaping this partnership, which seeks to:

  • Increase visibility of Café Delas women producers in the U.S. market

  • Educate stakeholders on gender equity and sustainability at origin

  • Promote Café Delas coffee among U.S. roasters and retailers

  • Share stories of impact from women in coffee-growing communities

The Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome Ms. Amell to the USWIC Board. Ms. Amell’s lived experience, passion for justice, and track record of results-driven impact make her an incredible addition to our leadership team.

Reflecting on her new role, Ms. Amell shared, “Choosing to work in specialty coffee has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my life. I’m honored to join the USWIC Board and to continue championing the women who shape the coffee industry from seed to cup.”

USWIC looks forward to the leadership and energy Ms. Amell brings to this next chapter of growth and collaboration.
